AsciiDoc over Markdown

I taught myself HTML a long time ago, on a software called HotDog (Pro?). There wasn’t such a thing as WYSIWYG capabilities at the time. However, HotDog had an amazing feature: the toolbar had all HTML tags (there weren’t that many at the time) as buttons, and you could learn them by clicking on them and watching the results. The only downside was that you had to click on another button to close the tag. Then came Dreamweaver.

My blogging stack and publishing process

I know a lot of people who have interesting things to say: when I can, I try to encourage them to write their own blogs. I think every developer who has interest should do it, with the minimal hurdle possible. However, for reasons I cannot fathom, Medium has become the blogging platform of choice. Let’s face it, while the platform is okay-ish for non-technical posts, it’s not adapted for subjects that involve code - and formatting.

Automating generation of Asciidoctor output

I’ve been asked to design new courses for the next semester at my local university. Historically, I create course slides with Power Point and lab instructions with Word. There are other possible alternatives, for slides and documents: Google Slides, A bunch of JavaScript frameworks (Reveal.js, Impress.js, etc.), Dedicated e-learning platforms (Moodle, etc.), etc.
